Jillian Maslow is a visual artist who creates intricately patterned, feminine sculptures that link thousands of themed objects together to convey powerful and hopeful social messages. Public engagement is an integral component as each individual’s gentle effort impacts the final artwork in a positive way. Jillian honed her craft of expressing story and character within the details of costumes, communicating details beyond the bounds of a script during her 20+ year career as a costume designer. As a visual artist she leverages this skill of nuanced communication to bring attention to her feminist voice. Jillian is a graduate of FIT and Parsons, Paris,. Her art has been exhibited as part of group shows in NYC and Athens. In 2023, Jillian’s feminine sculpture Target Peace created from hundreds of bullets, spent bullet shells and military dog tags transformed from a symbol of war into a symbol of peace when individuals tied soft white ribbons onto it. The ribbon-tying installation is a graceful visual depiction of the power of each individual’s voice and its impact on community.
